History Liaquat Pur was named once " Chau-Dari " from Persian it is translated as "4 - windows". When Bahawalpur was a Princely state, nawabs of Bahawalpur constructed here a big Minaret and on the top of this Minaret there were 4 Windows, Usually seen in Mughal or Islamic Architectures. The purpose of building this Minaret was to watch over the movements of the Army of Jaisalmer state. Whenever there was some unusual movement 1 of these 4 soldiers sitting and watching on this Minaret blew a big bang bell, as an alarm to get ready for Nawab's Armies. Although after the Partition of Pakistan and India this area was renamed as Liaquata pur in honor of first Prime Minister of Pakistan Liaquat Ali Khan. Economy Liaquat Pur is an agricultural city. Most of its inhabitants earn from their crops.
