Bahawalpur
State was established in 1727 and Amir Sadiq Muhammad Khan became
its ruler. He was descendant of rulers of Baghdad. His family ruled Sindh and had lived in Makran, as religious leaders. Amir Sadiq
Muhammad Khan was the head of this branch of Abbasis. The Abbasis
first came to Uch Sharif on the invitation of Bukharies and Gilanis.
Later on, they got the areas of Shikarpur from Governor of Multan as
Jagir. After the death of Amir Sadiq Muhammad Khan his eldest son
named Amir Muhammad Bahawal Khan came into power and founded the
city of Bahawalpur. The name, Bahawalpur has been driven from Amir
Muhammad Bahawal Khan.
The
Bahawalpur district is bounded on the north by Multan, Lodhran and
Vehari districts, on the west by Rahim Yar Khan and Muzaffargarh
districts, on the south by India and on the east by Bahawalnagar
district and India.
Hasilpur
is a Tehsil of district Bahawalpur. It is bounded by district
Bahawalnagar on its eastern side; district Vehari on its north,
Tehsil Khairpur Tamewali on its west and Tehsil Yazman on its south.
